Roy was born in 1926. He had a long career as a professional artist and had a passion for representing methods of transportation, people, nature and the relationships between them.
His early career as a draftsman at a locomotive manufacturer led him naturally towards the depiction of an abundance of past and present railway scenes in his work as a professional artist.
He was a master of his chosen painting medium – pastel. This gave his work a distinctive character blending light, movement and emotion.
He passed away in 2019. His legacy includes a collection of excellent railway art , collected together in a book by his brother Brian Wilson.
